The retrofit / Features
One platform.
Considered in every detail.
Treatment, mounting, connections and service designed around a suitable existing tank—not a new manufactured shell.
Development preview. Host-tank compatibility, treatment capacity, approvals, pricing and service intervals are not yet released.
01 / The receiving tank
A measured fit. Not a universal promise.
Concrete, polyethylene and fiberglass tanks vary in geometry, condition and access. We are developing a finite range of adapters and qualified configurations, not a single insert assumed to fit every tank.
- Survey the structure, usable volumes and pipe elevations.
- Preserve settling, solids storage, freeboard and approved loading.
- Check access, mounting, ventilation and the existing field.
Development boundary. A damaged, undersized or inaccessible tank may not qualify. Additional vessels are not silently added to the base retrofit.
02 / Biological treatment
Each stage has a clear job.
The development baseline combines preserved primary settling, an airlift-driven fixed-film rack and protected clarification. Our original media and airflow geometry must prove their value against conventional references.
- Removable media sections with open, defined water passages.
- Serviceable air-release components and a dedicated manifold.
- Solids retention and accessible sampling before discharge.
Development boundary. Capacity, energy use, cold-weather behavior and effluent results require complete-configuration testing. A 600-gallon/day development duty is not a rating.
03 / Long-term access
Replace the part. Keep the system understandable.
Service is designed around retrieving the required module through a qualified access opening, without entering the tank or dismantling unrelated equipment.
- Independent lifting points and controlled cable slack.
- Accessible pump docks, seals and air components.
- Human-readable part identities plus revision-matched digital records.
Development boundary. Pumping, required inspections, normal wear and purchased-pump maintenance remain. Three-to-five-year treatment-hardware servicing is a research goal, not an approved schedule.
04 / Installation detail
Fewer mysteries at every connection.
Factory-built harnesses, organized air lines and keyed interfaces are intended to reduce field terminations and connection mistakes. Visual consistency never makes incompatible functions interchangeable.
- Distinct mechanical keying for power, data and hydraulic functions.
- Qualified mains/Ethernet trunk and ordinary PoE sensor branches.
- Configuration-specific diagrams and documented isolation procedures.
Development boundary. Electrical ratings, environmental qualification and independent protection remain release gates. No generic hot-plug or wet-mate claim is made.
05 / Local operation
Treatment is not a cloud feature.
Bounded local controls and independent protective functions belong to the installation. The website and optional hosted services must not become prerequisites for essential operation.
- Local operating profiles and deliberate recovery checks.
- Visible power, communication and observation failures.
- No subscription lockout of essential treatment or alarms.
Development boundary. Loss of internet is not loss of power. A cut power/data trunk does not leave imaginary tank power or surviving measurements.
06 / Original assemblies
Designed together. Accounted for individually.
Our plan is to manufacture Subfield’s treatment, mounting, control and connection assemblies, using qualified materials and electronic inputs. Pumps are purchased from qualified manufacturers rather than developed in-house. Production arrangements for the air pump or blower are still being evaluated.
- Manufacturing drawings, materials and inspection criteria for every assembly.
- Serialized hardware, component revisions and factory-test records.
- Purchased pumps retain their manufacturer identity and approved operating limits.
Development boundary. This is a manufacturing-development plan, not a claim of current production, stocked parts or a released warranty.
07 / Connected ownership
The right information for each responsibility.
Homeowners, installers, maintainers and authorized officials need different tools. A shared installation record should make handoffs clearer without granting everyone control of the equipment.
- Plain-language owner status and service history.
- Offline commissioning, diagnostics and exact replacement-part context.
- Permission-scoped reports and actual laboratory records for reviewers.
Development boundary. Role selection is not authentication. Hosted access requires real authorization; the available demonstration contains synthetic data only.
08 / The downstream system
An upgrade that respects the whole site.
Gravity, chamber, pressure-dosed, mound and drip arrangements have different requirements. The receiving tank and downstream system must both fit the reviewed configuration.
- Retain the existing approved disposal arrangement where suitable.
- Select additional filtration or disinfection only for a defined requirement.
- Document existing defects separately from the treatment retrofit.
Development boundary. No guaranteed drainfield restoration, universal soil compatibility, potable-water output or unrestricted reuse is claimed.
Before you begin
A clear starting point.
Understand the product direction, its limits and what must be proven before an installation.
Does it fit every septic tank?
No. The objective is broad coverage through a qualified range of host tanks and adapters. Condition, geometry, access, usable treatment and solids-storage volume, ventilation and the downstream field must all be reviewed.
Does the base design need another buried tank?
No additional wastewater tank or pod is part of the base retrofit concept. Suitable dry equipment housing and existing approved dosing infrastructure may still be needed. A site that cannot meet the configuration requirements may not qualify.
Is this just a filter?
No. The proposed core is an aerobic biological process supported by fixed media, with controlled circulation and protected solids separation. Required coarse protection or field filtration performs a different job.
Is it rated for 600 gallons a day?
Not yet. Approximately 600 US gallons per day is an initial development duty. A rating requires testing of the complete configuration at defined wastewater loads and operating conditions.
Will it be maintenance-free?
No. The goal is to reduce avoidable intervention and develop hardware servicing around normal pump-out where evidence and approval permit. Pumping, required inspections, wear components and purchased-pump care remain; a three-to-five-year interval is not established.
Do you manufacture the pumps?
No. Pumps are the explicit purchased exception to our original-assembly manufacturing plan. The air-pump or blower production arrangement remains under evaluation.
Can I order or install it today?
Not yet. This is a development preview. Released configurations, qualified instructions, local approval, commercial terms and availability must be established first. An inquiry is not a purchase, reservation or compatibility decision.
Does it still work without internet?
Essential treatment and required local alarms are being designed not to depend on cloud access or a subscription. A power outage is different and must follow the qualified, finite-reserve failure plan.

Bring the records and questions you already have. A project brief starts the conversation; it does not approve a tank or reserve equipment.
